Angela Schwarz
President and Chief Executive Officer

Angela Schwarz, Chief Executive Officer, joined Element in 2007. She has over two decades of experience in the energy industry, and closed over $3 billion of energy outsourcing and infrastructure contracts with Fortune 100 companies in both the deregulated and regulated power and gas markets. Angela joined Element Markets as Vice President of Development and under her direction, the Company built a successful development portfolio of wind, solar, methane and greenhouse gas mitigation projects. In 2012, Angela was promoted to President and CEO and has lead the company through the evolution of the environmental commodities market place. Prior to joining Element, Angela was Managing Director at Enron Energy Services (EES) responsible for running EES's commercial origination group. Following Enron's bankruptcy in 2001, Angela worked on behalf of the Creditor's Committee until 2003 to manage the liquidation of some of EES's most valuable assets. She also held senior sales and operating positions at Trilogy and Honeywell.

Randall Lack

Randall Lack is a successful entrepreneur within the environmental commodity and alternative energy industries for almost two decades. In 2005, he co-founded Element and currently serves as a Chief Marketing Officer. Mr. Lack's extensive experience in structuring environmental commodity transactions including biogas, emissions, renewable energy credits, and greenhouse gases has eclipsed $1 Billion in total transactions completed, which has led him to be recognized as one of the top executives in the environmental markets. Randall is an acclaimed speaker and media resource in the areas of Biomethane, Renewable Energy Credits, Greenhouse Gas Trading, Regional Emission Markets, and pending emissions legislation and was a founding Board Member of the Renewable Natural Gas Coalition. In 2013, Randall was awarded the recognition of 40 under 40 by the Houston Business Journal recognizing him as one of the most influential young people in business in Houston. He received his BBA in Business from the University of Houston.

Anthony Askalany

Anthony Askalany joined Element Markets in 2019 as the Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Askalany’s background includes over two decades of senior corporate leadership experience in multinational energy, chemical, and manufacturing companies, including AOT Energy, Odfjell Terminals B.V., Vimar Group, and NRG Europe. Mr. Askalany has an extensive background in achieving mission-critical business objectives with corporate finance, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, contractual, and international taxation expertise. Over his career he has structured and negotiated complex national and international financing, mergers and acquisitions with an aggregate value in excess of $8 billion.

Mr. Askalany’s extensive education includes a Juris Doctor with a concentration in Corporate Law/Taxation (admitted to the Bar in Minnesota), a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and licenses as both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). In addition, Mr. Askalany has authored numerous white papers, and has taught graduate level courses on finance, law, multinational finance, economics and tax matters.

Leslie Ward

Leslie is a CPA and has an MBA with a concentration in finance. She currently oversees the accounting and treasury functions of the company as well as structuring and contract management. In addition, Leslie is responsible for the generation and reporting aspects related to renewable fuel credits. Leslie has extensive experience in the energy industry, with a focus on power and natural gas.

Keri Richardson Bevel

Keri Bevel joined Element in 2009 and was promoted to serve as a Senior Vice President and the Company's General Counsel in 2011. Ms. Bevel has extensive experience negotiating and drafting biogas and environmental commodity agreements (totaling over $500 million of notional value to date) as well as acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate transactions. In 2015, she was recognized as one of the best in-house counsel in Houston by being named a finalist for the Houston Business Journal’s Best Corporate Counsel Awards. Prior to joining Element, Keri served as an Assistant General Counsel for The Structure Group and also as Vice President and Counsel for Lehman Brothers Private Equity. Keri also worked in private practice at Simpson Thatcher and Bartlett LLP, where she specialized in corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Keri holds a BSBA in Accounting and Master of Accountancy from Auburn University and received her Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law.

Tom Moffett

Tom Moffett joined Element Markets in 2017 to anchor the company’s Carlsbad, CA office, where he leads the West Coast origination supporting Element Markets’ efforts in the Renewable Natural Gas, Renewable Fuels Standard Credits (RINs), Low Carbon Fuel Standard Credits, renewable energy trading, carbon credits, and emissions credits. Tom is an experienced leader in the biomethane and environmental commodities marketplace. Prior to joining Element Markets Tom led the origination efforts in renewable natural gas for Shell Energy North America, including the company’s entrance into the cellulosic biomethane market. Under Tom’s direction Shell Energy North America began participating in the trading and optimization of environmental credits in the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCSF) and the EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard (RINs) markets. Tom also managed Carbon Instruments and associated strategies for Shell affiliates and external customers. Tom graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Management Science, and completed business courses at the London School of Economics.

Mark Lerdal
Chairman of the Board, Private Equity Executive

Mark Lerdal brings over 30 years of experience in the renewable energy field as an investor, operating executive, and attorney, and has served as Element Markets’ Chairman since January 2017. He is currently the Executive Chairman at Leaf Clean Energy, a publicly traded closed end fund in the renewable energy industry. From 2011 to 2013, as President of Hydrogen Energy California, he oversaw the development of a carbon capture and sequestration facility. Mark also served as President of MP2 Capital, a renewable energy facility developer, owner, and operator with assets across North America. Prior to that, while at KKR Finance, Mark was a Managing Director in its debt division. He also sits on the board of Onsite Energy, an energy services company.

Paul Argyropoulos
Former U.S. EPA Senior Policy Advisor for Renewable Fuel Standard

Paul is a leading renewable transportation fuel policy expert, specializing in how federal and state policies affect fuel, feedstock, environmental and energy markets. Paul was instrumental in the development and administration of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) while at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ), where he worked as a Senior Policy Advisor. At the EPA, Paul chaired the intra-agency working group for the RFS program implemented under both the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Paul has also worked for the Petroleum and private sector on both domestic and international transportation policy issues. Mr. Argyropoulos is currently President of Policy Nexus Advisors, where he provides advice on federal fuel and transportation program policies and the interface between the environmental, energy and agricultural related sector business interests.

Stephen Schaefer
Private Equity and Power Executive

With over 30 years of experience Stephen is a recognized energy industry leader. Stephen has direct executive management experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, restructuring, debt and equity financing while in industry. With leadership roles at energy companies including Boston Generating Company, Duke Energy, and LG&E Energy, Stephen will provide leadership and insight to Element Markets’ expansion of business units, including M&A activities. Most recently at Riverstone Holdings, a $36 billion private equity firm, Stephen took on a principal investing role. There, he led teams responsible for investment in fossil and renewable energy investments. Stephen has sat on multiple Boards throughout all stages of growth, from initial investment through the final monetization of the investment. In addition to the Element Markets Board, currently he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Texgen Power. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Genon Holdings and HB2 Inc.

Keith Little
LNG Executive

Keith has over 30 years of experience leading business development projects across the entire energy value chain with a focus on LNG. He has both domestic and international experience managing LNG, power generation, and midstream natural gas projects in the U.S., Europe, and emerging markets. Keith brings project development and market insights to Element Markets’ renewable natural gas business. He is currently Vice President, Business Development at Cheniere Energy, a top 5 producer of LNG worldwide, where he is developing U.S. Gulf Coast LNG facilities.
