Element Markets, LLC is expanding its reach in the generation of environmental credits with the launch of Element Markets Electric Vehicle (EMEV), a new subsidiary to focus on environmental credit generation from electric vehicles. Created to provide services and generate additional value for the Electric Vehicle (EV) sector, EMEV will leverage Element Markets’ background in biogas generated Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) and Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) credits. The new venture will be headed-up by Steve Johnson, Vice President of Environmental Products, and supported by Element Markets West Coast office located in Carlsbad, California
Element Markets, a leader in the electric vehicle space, is pioneering the use of environmental credits through a contract with King County, Washington to manage the generation and sale of federal RINs from the use of biogas as transportation fuel. Under the terms of the deal, EMEV will supply biogas to King County’s transit division to power the department’s entire electric fleet, which is the second largest municipal EV fleet in the country, with over 160 operating EVs. EMEV will also manage the generation and sale of any RIN credits generated from the use of biogas as transportation fuel.
Included in the King County contract is language that allows other American Public Transportation Association members to sign onto the contract, which could expand the impact and scope of the current deal with King County.
“Having a municipal power background, I am excited about the opportunity to work with these large municipal fleets and the expansion of the EV markets in general. Our West Coast team will focus on creating solutions for transportation agencies nationwide to reduce emissions, while creating additional value and funding to help meet their climate action plan goals,” said Steve Johnson.
