Element Markets is pleased to announce that it is expanding its executive team with the promotion of Leslie Ward to Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Ward has been with the company for over 10 years and has been instrumental in the structuring and management of contracts for environmental credits, as well as the generation of renewable fuel credits.
In her new role as COO, Ms. Ward will bring valuable leadership experience during a period of rapid growth. Ms. Ward will lead operations and direct the company’s finance, accounting, and environmental credit generation functions.
“Element Markets is experiencing a wave of growth right now which created the need for additional operating infrastructure. In her last position, Leslie built an agile system that scaled to meet the increasing needs of our clients. This is a well deserved promotion, and we are looking forward to having Leslie step into the role of COO,” said Angela Schwarz, President and CEO of Element Markets.
Since joining Element Markets in 2008, Ms. Ward has helped propel Element Markets into a position as a market leader. In her roles at Element Markets, Ms. Ward has overseen all aspects of contract management for environmental credit generation and management departments that allowed Element Markets to grow into the largest independent marketer of biogas and environmental commodities, with over $2.6 Billion in transactions completed, including over 50 million RINs generated from biogas.
“I am thrilled to move into my new role as the COO,” Said Ward. “It is an exciting time at Element Markets, and I am looking forward to taking a strategic approach to evaluate what the company needs to have in place to continue to prosper and grow.”
Prior to joining Element Markets Ms. Ward worked for Enron Energy Services structuring, negotiating, and contracting deals. She then spent 5 years working through the bankruptcy process to close down Enron Energy Services, where she was responsible for selling the natural gas book and collecting outstanding receivables through mediations. Prior to receiving her MBA Ms. Ward worked for KPMG as an auditor in the energy sector.
Ms. Ward graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Accounting, received her MBA, with a concentration in finance, from the University of Houston, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
